An icon of the classic modern style, this piece was originally designed as a “Throne” for the king of Spain during the inaugural ceremony of the German pavilion at the 1929 International Exhibition at Barcelona. The frame is welded into a single piece. Thick leather straps supporting the seat pad and chair back are screwed or riveted into the frame. The cushions are wrapped in leather and attached by hidden double snap buttons.
